HELJAK, her name from 1937 until at least 1942, was a Sound Interclub Class sloop, #ISC12, built in 1926 by Henry B. Nevins, Inc. of City Island, New York from designs by Charles D. Mower. Her first owner in 1926 was Charles H. Appleby. of NYC, New York and her original name was OPAL II. ARIEL was a 28'9" Sound Interclub Class boat, #ISC1, built in 1926 by Henry B. Nevins of City Island, New York from designs by Charles D. Mower. Her original name was CHICKS, and her first owner was Henry A. Alker from 1926 to 1929. She was bought by Miss Marie Iselin as CHICKS in 1930 who changed the name to ARIEL in 1931. Information from original negative sleeve: "94449F 9/16/39 / ISC-12 Heljak leading ISC-1".
