Printed version slightly cropped from original negative. The SS UNITED STATES broke all speed record for a transatlantic crossing in July 1952. She was launched that same year by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock, Co., and was designed by Gibbs & Cox, Inc. She measures 990 feet in length. Printed on original negative sleeve: "135357F / 5255". Handwritten on original negative sleeve: "3/21/53 / S/S UNITED STATES".
