8x10 glass negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons for the New York Telephone Company for advertisement use. Image of a young woman painting a chair who runs out of paint. She painting a chair with a paint brush and a small can of paint and sees that she is out of paint. The room the woman is in has striped wall paper, and form left to right, a wicker trunk, a vanity table in the corner with a mirror and hairbrushes and power on it, a double window with curtains and a radiator and a rug on the right. The chair and the woman are on top of newspaper with "THE EVENING WORLD ___ / BEST SPORTING PAGE / NEW YORK / April 25, 1912" typed at the top. The newspaper helps to date this image to April of 1912 and possibly April 25, 1912 if this is a fresh newspaper used that day. This negative is one of a series of images dealing with ordering things you need, such as paint, by telephone. Handwritten neg. sleeve info.: "436 / paint / Box 35-1." Typed information from a 3x5 Rosenfeld index card: "N.Y. Tel. Co.: Paint Story: #1-All out of paint / Neg. 436 / Box 35 / Pos. 1". CREDIT LINE: Mystic Seaport, Rosenfeld Collection.
