5x7 glass negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during the time of Larchmont Race Week sponsored by the Larchmont Yacht Club and held off Larchmont, New York in 1921. Image of four New York 50' Class sloops racing, port beam view. They are (l to r): ACUSHLA, #NY51, ISTALENA (III), #NY57, CAROLINA, #NY55 and SPARTAN, #NY56. Nine 50' Class sloops were built in 1913. Later rigging changes were made to schooners or yawls and those that stayed as sloops went from a gaff-rigged to a Marconi rig and raced in the M Class. The 50 footers sailed under the One-Design 50-footer Rules when sailing as a One-Design Class set by the New York Yacht Club Racing Rules with specific cruising equipment, a crew of 6, no hauling out, sail regulations and length of spar. Their dimensions were: 72' x 50' x 14'6" x 9'3" x 9'9". Handwritten neg. sleeve info.: "6506-F / 1921 / Larchmont Rae Week / Start 50' Footers / Bx 685."
