Gelatin silver print by F. Slade Dale aboard the four-masted coastal schooner HERBERT L. RAWDING. Taken while vessel was en route with freight, from Miami, FL to New Bedford, MA on the week of April 27, 1926. The photographer was hitching a ride home from a voyage south he had taken aboard a twelve-foot sneakbox. View of an unidentified tugboat K. M. O__? pulled up alongside the RAWDING. Captain seen leaning over rail and a black sailor is seen from the back on the left hand side of the image. In the background, a four masted schooner is seen, probably docked; several other vessels seen in far distance. See original negative 2001.69.62.
