5 x 7 Kodak safety negative taken by Rosenfeld and Sons, off Gloucester, MA, in October 1930. Posed view of Captain Benjamin Pine at the wheel of the fishing schooner GERTRUDE L. THEBAUD. Taken during the Unofficial International Fisherman's Race of 1930. This race was mainly for fun, but a trophy and prize money were awarded by Sir. Thomas Lipton. The official races resumed the following year. The GERTRUDE L. THEBAUD beat BLUENOSE on both October 9th and 10th during these races in 1930. Typed on original negative sleeve: "43344F / Fishermans Race Gloucester 1930 / Capt Ben Pine at the Wheel of his boat / the Gertrude L. Thiebout [sic]". See related print and videodisc.
