View of Rod Stephens Jr., COLUMBIA's sail expert, standing on the spinnaker pole of COLUMBIA. The vessel was rigged by Rod Stephens and he often went aloft to check on things himself. COLUMBIA was a 69' 12 meter sloop, sail #US16, designed by Olin Stephens and built by Henry Nevins of City Island in 1958 and was chosen was chosen as the America's Cup defender that year.
