Original photograph September 7, 1895 of a long shot of VALKYRIE III and DEFENDER manuvering for the start in the 1st cup race of the America's Cup challenge. Both show a starboard beam view. Copy negative shows total print copied from as well as the fact that the print was pinned to a wall when the copy negative was shot. Handwritten information from the print as seen on the copy negative: "273 / Valkyrie / Defender/ Maneuvering for start / 1st Cup race."
