7 1/2 x 4 3/8 albumen print adhered to 8 x 4 5/8 linen paper backing originally photographed and made by an unidentified photographer. Print is part of the the Rosenfeld and Sons Collection. Original image made August 21, 1895 when VALKYRIE III was in New York for the America's Cup challenge which started in September. VALKYRIE III was photographed from down in the bottom of the drydock looking up at the underbody and bow area. There are crew on the deck and also in the mast as well as men down in the drydock area. The walls of the drydock can be seen in the background and there are spectators standing on the walls. VALKYRIE III is being held upright by scaffolding from the sides of the hull to the drydock walls. Handwritten in ink at the bottom of the print in the backing area in ink: "205 / Valkyrie." Stamped in blue ink: "AUG 21 1895." Notation: the drydock is probably the Erie Basin Dry Dock.
