Both vessels racing, port beam view, during the America's Cup first race held September 7, 1895. Vessel in foreground to the left may by WIDION or WIGION (?). Handwritten at the bottom of the print in the backing area in ink: "314 - Valkyrie III / Defender / 5 minutes after start 1st cup race". Stamped in blue ink: "SEP-7 1895". Hanwritten on verso: "117a" and "X, p8".
