Photograph; black-and-white photograph from the Josephone Ford Byrd Arctic Expedition, 1926; Fokker plane is supported on four dories and being rowed through ice packed water, fifth and lead dory with two men breaking ice, plane appears to be strapped to a flat bed, cable hanging from top of photograph with shackle attached, probably either picked up or dropped off plane; handwritten on back "BYRD FLIGHT TO NORTH POLE/ MAY 9 1926/ 15-1/2 HRS" and "13 x 7".
