Aquatint, colored, framed, with old glass; title printed below picture, "KILLING SEALS IN A CAVERN"; illustration of man holding 2 torches, and 4 men clubbing seals in a cave, man in rowboat outside cave; printed lower left "Howitt Del.", lower right "M. Dubourg Sculpt." and in center "Published and Sold May 1st. 1813, by Edwd. Orme, Bond St London." Samuel Howitt (1856-1822) self taught artist; exhibited at Royal Academy and Society of Artists; went to India circa 1793 and painted hunting scenes.
