Centennial souvenir ribbon - rectangular shape w/one pointed end. Ribbon of silk w/embroidery. Background is off white, other colors are red, green, blue, yellow and black. Embroidered at center of ribbon is picture of George Washington. Below him are 2 crossed American flags connected by a wreath. Above him reads: "CENTENNIAL/ 1776 (diamond) 1876/ PHILADELPHIA/ U.S.A." Below him reads: "GEORGE/ WASHINGTON/ THE FIRST IN PEACE,/ THE FIRST IN WAR,/ THE FIRST IN THE HEARTS/ OF HIS COUNTRYMEN." Below this is pictured an eagle. On reverse of ribbon is embroidered: "T. STEVENS, COVENTRY ENGLAND." Ribbon found in man's wallet; accession # 64.23.
