Turney, who is reading the oath of Ensign from a not pad. The are in an office at First Naval District Headquarters in Boston. A separate sheet of paper is taped to back on which is typed: "IMMEDIATE RELEASE / USS POLLUX HERO TAKE OATH AS ENSIGN / Isaac H. Strauss, former New York athlete and third class / quartermaster on the USS POLLUX, is shown taking the oath as an Ensign / from Commander Hugh W. Turney, former commanding officer of the / POLLUX. The oath was administered at First Naval District Headquarters, / Boston today (July 2). Ensign Strauss will be assigned to patrol craft / training at Miami, Fla."
