Langford who was a teacher aboard the vessel when it sank May 2, 1961; he used slides in this collection (2002.35.1-657) for lectures about the sinking. The following transcription is from Richard Langford Collection AV 193:2002-5,6: [TCR 01:16:12]:
“That’s my freshman college class--five boys in English that I got a picture of. That’s Tad Sayloe[?sp] there on the left front, right front is Chris Coristine, he drowned, up on the railing leaning over is Chuck Gieg, John Goodlett in the middle back there with his head back against the railing, he drowned, Robin Wetherell on John’s right, and he drowned. They were good boys.”
