View of the 126"7' Burgess & Donaldson designed, Herreshoff built J class sloop RAINBOW (built 1934) being launched at the Herreshoff Yard, Bristol, Rhode Island on a rainy day. Visible in image: starboard quarter view of hull of RAINBOW (not yet rigged), seen on the ways dressed with flags with men on her deck dressed in raincoats and Souwester rain hats. Several spectators can be seen standing in the foreground to the right on a dock watching her slide down the ways. There is a sign on one building that says, "HERRESHOFF'S". Typed on original negative sleeve: "67332-F / 5/14/34 / Rainbow launching". Sleeve stamped: "MORRIS ROSENFELD / PHOTOGRAPHIC ILLUSTRATOR / 116 NASSAU ST.
