Toulmin; cover lithograph by Thayer & Co., depicting large overgrown bell buoy at sea, with extensive explanatory text below; 5 pages. The Inchcape bell marked a rock off the Isle of May on the approach to the Firth of Forth, Scotland; it was the subject of Robert Southey's poem, "The Inchcape Rock", which tells the story of pirate Sir Ralph the Rover who cut the bell loose only to later himself become shipwrecked upon the unmarked rock.
