Color lithograph; USS TRIGGER, SS 564 (built 1949-1951) depicted cruising on surface; printed on bottom center "USS TRIGGER (SS 564)"; printed bottom right "BUILT BY ELECTRIC BOAT, A DIVISION OF GENERAL DYNAMICS CORPORATION"; printed on back "USS TRIGGER (SS 564)/ Trigger is one of the fast new submarines of the post-World War II attack/ class. Equipped with a stepped-up diesel power plant and an underwater/ breathing tube (snorkel), she cruises faster submerged than on the surface./ To preserve her streamlining, she carries no deck gun. Her acoustic torpedoes/ set their course by the engine noises of an enemy ship and 'home' in for the/ kill. For increased maneuveraility under the water, the postwar attack sub-/ marines are shorter than the fleet submarines of World War II. The Trigger/ is 268 feet in length, displaces 1,800 tons and has six torpedo tubes. She/ was launched June 14, 1951." Enclosed in portfolio 2003.92.22.
