Photograph; black-and-white photograph of Henry Strauss painting a Japanese flag on the flying bridge of SC 668 (built 1942), circa 1943; Strauss is perched on flying bridge with feet in window, painting a Japanese rising sun flag, signifying a "kill" of an airplane; stamped on back "74"; from Henry Strauss transcript in Sound Archives: "... that is me painting the last of the flags after the engagement we were in on April 7th in Tulaghi Harbor. We were attacked by 98 planes and the sunk the New Zealand CORVETTE, the destroyer AARON WARD, the tanker KANAWHA, blew up the concrete fueling barge and one or two smaller ships."
