BAGLEY (DD-386, built 1936), destroyer; front of envelope has no cachet; stamp on right depicts Nathan Hale, printed on stamp "UNITED STATES POSTAGE/ NATHAN HALE/ 1/2 CENT 1/2"; stamp postmarked three times "U.S.S. BAGLEY/ APR/ 29/ 1939/ REGISTERED", "U.S.S./ APR/ 30/ A.M./ 1939/ BAGLEY" and "U.S.S. BAGLEY/ APR/ 30/ 1939/ PARCEL POST". The U.S.S. BAGLEY fired from its mooring and downed several enemy planes during the attack on Pearl Harbor (see correspondence file).
