Armchair; Byron chair; from the collection of Captain Richard C. Mears (1829-1899); mahogany chair, with leather seating supported by springs, four chair legs which extend upward to become support for the back rest and arm rests, with arm rests extending from the back of the chair to the front edge of the seat; in between the supports on both the right and left sides of the chair are four small spindles, and on small spindle on either side of the back rest, and in between that and the corner supports; there is a floral and serpentine carving at the base of the seat, as well as carved serpentine patterns on the back and headrest of the seat; there are wooden finials at the top of the two back support posts.
