Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmaster to the South Pacific; traditionally built native home on a rock jutting out over the water, with several natives surrounding it, unknown which island this is from; handwritten on front "House on Rock Mahea"; handwritten on back "Native House on/ Rock Isle Mahea".
