8x10 gelatin silver print made by Rosenfeld and Sons from an original negative photographed July 23, 1948 on board the vessel HURRICANE III, showing a view of the interior of the deckhouse living area with a built in early television set, a young girl seated in the padded chair pretending to watch the television, magazines to her right, and to the left stairs leading up to the afterdeck as well as down into the interior of the vessel. The print was manipulated by the Rosenfelds on August 31, 1948 with a small cutout of an inboard racer from a seperate print adhered to the television screen to make it look like the television is turned on. HURRICANE III was a 54' cruiser built in 1947 by John Trumpy & Sons, designed by C. Nelson and owned by Allen B. DuMont. Original negative destroyed by Rosenfelds before being acquired by Mystic Seaport but neg. sleeve and print are available for viewing. Stamped neg. sleeve info.: "62679-A / 8/31/48 / Hurricane III 54' / composite-deckhouse / [Box] 2871-6A". Info. from print verso: "MORRIS ROSENFELD / PHOTOGRAPHIC ILLUSTRATOR / 116 NASSAU STREET, N.Y. / Phone BEekman 3-4970 / 62679". CREDIT LINE: Mystic Seaport, Rosenfeld Collection.
