Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmaster to South America; the Cathedral fo Lima (Roman Catholic) on the Eastern side of the Plaza de Armas (also known as the Plaza Mayor) in Lima, Peru, with a large crowd gathered out in front to watch the burning of Tomás Gutiérrez (murderer of President Jose Balta); handwritten on front "V.L.
