Mears (1829-1899) during his travels as a shipmater to South Africa; green souvenir card, front decorated with drawings of plants, back depicts a drawing of an ostrich, and the interior features a print of an engraving or drawing of Main Street, Port Elizabeth, as well as three silver leaves, with paintings on them of a ship, as well as greetings and flowers; printed on front "EVERLASTING/ SILVER LEAVES/ FROM/ TABLE MOUNTAIN,/ CAPE TOWN,/ SOUTH AFRICA/ ARGUS CO, LTD"; printed inside (left side under picture) "MAIN STREET, PORT ELIZABETH"; printed on inside (on silver leaves) "In fond/ Remembrance/ Your/ truly Friend".
