Mears; photograph housed in a union case (showing early construction and use of plastic), on inner left side is a stamped velved insert, and on the right side (interior) behind where photograph is placed was printed "GENUINE UNION CASE,/ Improved./ S. PECK'S PATENT,/ Oct. 3d, 1854/ H. HALVERSON'S PATENT/ Aug. 7th, 1855./ Assigned to S. Peck/ S. PECK'S PATENT,/ Feb. 5th, 1856."
