4x5 safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons in August of 1937 at the start of the New York Yacht Club Cruise. Image of RANGER, forward, port side, showing the large spinnaker set with several crew on deck and working at the base of the mast. There is a large motor yacht in the distance to the left. RANGER was a 135'2" sloop built as a US America's Cup defender in 1937 by the Bath Iron Works of Bath, Maine and designed by Starling Burgess with Olin Stephens.
