Wooden box with hinged lid, brass corners, interior removable tray; possibly made as a sewing box; carved on lid "Remember Me/ 1873"; carved on front in diamond-shaped frame is anchor, cross, and heart; interior tray has 4 compartments with hinged lids, and star-shaped pin cushion in red velvet; said to have been made by "a whaling sailor" whose home port was San Francisco.
