Shell bracelet from the collection of Captain Richard C. Mears (1829-1899). Bracelet made from pearl umbonium shells from small sea snail gastropods found in the Indo Pacific region. Bracelet is composed of four rows of 12 shells each, connected to each other by small crystal beads; towards one side, five shells are connected by beads hanging off the front of the bracelet which covers the metal box clasp when worn.
