Chest; Wooden chest; from the collection of Captain Richard C. Mears (1829-1899); wooden chest with a lid; lid has detached from body of chest, but was once attached by two leather hinges nailed on the back and top; metal loop on front of chest that small latch on lid would fit over, and allow a lock to be placed on; chest nailed together with what look to be square head; handwritten on one side of chest in black is "115/102", and on the other side "?265/1?8"; interior of chest is large and open, with a small, boxed off portion on the upper right hand corner (allowing for space under it), possibly for storage of smaller objects.
