35mm color slide photographed by Stanley Z. Rosenfeld June, 1983 probably at the preliminary trials for the America's Cup potential defenders. Image of the 12 meter FREEDOM, #US30, racing LIBERTY, who is using FREEDOM's #US30 sail to see if it is a better sail. Both vessels show a port beam view on a mild port tack with LIBERTY in the center in the foreground and FREEDOM to the left in the background. FREEDOM, US #30 was a 12 meter sloop launched in 1979 by the Minneford Yacht Yard of City Island, New York and was designed by Olin Stephens of Sparkman & Stephens. LIBERTY, #US40, was a 12 meter sloop of 63'6" designed by Johan Valentijn and built by Newport Offshore of Newport, Rhode Island in 1983. Handwritten in pencil on mount: "Freedom / 1983 / Liberty".
