INDEPENDENCE, #US28, sloop, was a 64' America's Cup contender in 1977 built by the Minneford Yacht Yard on City Island, New York from designs by Ted Hood who was also the sailmaker and skipper. ENTERPRISE, #US27, was a 67' sloop launched January, 1977, by Minneford Yacht Yard of City Island, New York, and was designed by Olin Stephens. ENTERPRISE raced in the 1977 and 1980 America's Cup trials and Lowell North was her skipper in 1977.
