Close up image of BOOMERANG, #21888, and TENACIOUS, #6998, racing side by side on a starboard tack broad reach with spinnakers with the view from leeward. BOOMERANG was a 64' auxiliary sloop and an IOR ocean racer designed and built by the Robert E. Derecktor yard of Mamaroneck, New York in 1980. TENACIOUS was a 61'3" auxiliary sloop custom designed by Sparkman and Stephens to the International Offshore Rule (IOR), and built by Palmer Johnson Boat Works for Ted Turner in 1978. Mount info. handwritten; "Boomerang - Tenacious / SORC 1980 / T. Turner at wheel / Tenacious / 544 (circled)" and also stamped in red; "16 / JUN 80N4".
