35mm color slide photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during the America's Cup Races held September 15th to the 28th, 1970. Image of INTREPID, #US22, in the lead, racing against GRETEL II, #KA3. Both vessels show a stern view to the camera, spinnakers are set with mainsails reaching. INTREPID, US #22, 12 meter, was the US America's Cup defender in 1967 and in 1970. She was designed by Olin Stephens and built by Minneford Yacht Yard of City Island, New York. GRETEL II, #KA3, was Australian America's Cup 1970 12 Meter Class challenger built by William H. Barnett of Australia from designs by Alan Payne. Slide mount info. handwritten: "1970 / Intrepid / Gretel / PL #89-2-3". Hand stamped: "[PHOTOG]RAPH BY STANLEY ROSENFELD".
