35mm color slide photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons during the Americas' Cup races held September 16th to the 25th, 1980. Image of FREEDOM racing AUSTRALIA, with FREEDOM in the lead, both showing a port beam view on a mild starboard tack. Shown in the background between the two boats is the race committee motor yacht and to the right a coast guard vessel. FREEDOM, US #30, was a 63' 12 meter, launched in 1979 by the Minneford Yacht Yard of City Island, New York and designed by Sparkman & Stephens, Inc. She was the last America's Cup design by Olin Stephens. AUSTRALIA, sail #KA5, was a 65' 12 Meter Class sloop built for the Australian America's Cup challenge in 1977 by Steven Ward of Australia from co-designers Johan Valentijn and Ben Lexcen in 1977. Modified by Johan Valentijn for the 1980 America's Cup challenge. Handwritten mount info.: "Start A/C / 1980 / FREEDOM & AUSTRALIA". Hand stamped: "PHOTO BY STANLEY ROSENFELD".
