Sextant, made by C. Plath, Hamburg, Germany, circa 1940. Maker’s mark of stick figure using sextant and “C. PLATH / HAMBURG” engraved on the left end of the arc. Serial number found on the underside of the handle, “9366”. With case, cleaning brush, and adjustment tools, as well as the original examination certificate from C. Plath, Hamburg, Germany dated 1940 and an adjustment certification from Trans Pacific Marine LTD, Auckland, New Zealand dated 18 December 1972. Examination certificate “Prüfungsschein” has a sticker in the upper right corner for John Bliss Nautical Instrument Company. Overall good condition; minor wear to black paint. Overall: 5 x 10 x 7 1/2 in.
