Wood, steel, brass
overall: 9 1/4 x 2 x 1/2 in.

Lignum vitae wood handled knife with brass guard and steel blade cut from an old vertical mill saw blade; made for Joesephine "Joee" Patterson by partner Tim Clark. Knife was later used by Patterson while a crew member on the CHARLES W. MORGAN's 38th voyage. Lignum vitae wood sourced from scrap pile of wood used during the restoration of the MORGAN while Clark worked on the AMISTAD in the winter of 2006-2007 at Mystic Seaport Museum. Thin cotton rope threaded through the hole in the end of the handle and attached to a hardware clasp. Overall good condition; blade is scratched and minorly chipped from use or from previous life as a saw blade. Overall: 9 1/4 x 2 x 1/2 in.
