Pocket watch with silver? pair case and watch chain; white ceramic face with Arabic numerals, cracked at 10 and 11; stamps inside pair case include WB, lion passant, anchor, h, and hexafoil; two watch papers, both printed "Willm. Cleveland,/ Watch & Clock Maker/ NORWICH.", one handwritten on back "Sept 16. 1825" and "Aug 14th 1832", and the other handwritten on back "May 30th 1843" and on front "Geo P. Brigden"; watch belonged to Matthew Calbraith Perry; William Cleveland was grandfather of President Grover Cleveland; with watch key 1990.139.2; said to have been carried by Perry when he visited Japan, 1852-1853.
