A news clipping from the March 19, 1957 Daily Telegraph revealing that the captain of the QUEEN ELIZABETH had to detour 40 miles off course to avoid ice floes in the North Atlantic. Commander Sir Ivan Thompson is quoted as saying it is the worst year for ice since the Titanic disaster of 1912.
