The program for a Community Memorial Service held in Brooklyn on September 30, 1934 in honor of the members and friends of the Concordia Singing Society who had died in the MORRO CASTLE disaster. About 100 members of the Brooklyn-based singing group were aboard the ship for their annual trip, and 32 are listed as dead in this program. The program was full of music, ending with the remaining members of the group singing "Nearer My God to Thee," a hymn that had become deeply associated with the TITANIC disaster and with shipwrecks. The Brooklyn Times Union reported that 2,000 people attended this service.
