One of a set of 8 photographs of the MORRO CASTLE taken on September 8, 1934, the day of the disaster, after the wreck had grounded off Asbury Park. This one is a view of the stern. The ship's name and the date 9-8-34 are written on the front in red pen, and on the back it says "The MORRO CASTLE Sep. 8, 1934. Notice the open and unopened port holes and the upper decks where the fire has completely burned the wood away." The photo also shows the ropes that salvage workers were using to access the wreck and search for survivors and bodies.
