One of a set of 8 photographs of the MORRO CASTLE taken on September 8, 1934, the day of the disaster, after the wreck had grounded off Asbury Park. This photo shows the side of the wreck. The ship's name and the date 9-8-34 are written on the front in red pen, and on the back it says "The 'Morro Castle' Sep. 8, 1934 N.B. The lifeboats bent in half and the open and unopened port holes." Also visible are the ship's funnels. Two men are in the foreground of the photograph, though their inclusion doesn't seem to be intentional.
