A Ward Line press release concerning the launch of the MORRO CASTLE in March 1930. The heading says "FOR RELEASE in afternoon papers of March 5 following word from Newport News, Va., of launching of Ward Line's new turbo-electric liner Morro Castle. The text announces the launch of the ship, christened by Miss Ruth Eleanor Mooney, and describes its features, its intended New York to Havana route, and its safety features. The last page describes its fire prevention systems including "an electric fire alarm system," "fire doors in fire-screen bulkheads," and "hose chemical extinguishers," all of which later failed to prevent the disastrous fire of September 8, 1934.
