Postcard of the MORRO CASTLE from a 1934 cruise to Nassau and Havana, for guests of the company Philco. The trip departed New York May 25, 1934, and the card is postmarked May 28, 1934 in Havana. Perhaps most interesting about this card is its stamp-- it is an ordinary green Republica de Cuba stamp, but it has been overprinted in red with the words "Gobierno Revolucinario 4-9-1933." September 4, 1933 was the date of a revolutionary coup and the installation of a new government, and this is a rare stamp from that time period. The card has a color image of the MORRO CASTLE on the front, with a description of it and its sister ship ORIENTE on the back and a reference in red to the Philco 1934 West Indies Cruise. It was addressed to Mr. and Mrs. William A. Hartmann, 67 Ridge Road, Rutherford NJ. The message, from someone named Hals, says simply "What a Time!"
