A copy of a shipboard news booklet called the Cunard Daily Bulletin for February 21, 1911, from the LUSITANIA. This was news received by shipboard telegram and printed daily aboard ship, offered for sale for 5 cents. The text includes a fascinating story about the poor understanding geologists had of oil wells at that time, a page of celebrity gossip, pieces of news likely to be of interest to travelers, a serialized story, and information about shipboard events. There is also a First Class ("Saloon") passenger list printed on page 15-18 and a sailing schedule on page 29. And, of course, there are many advertisements geared towards travelers, for everything from hotels to furs. The passenger list includes several aristocrats such as Lady Lillian Boyd and the Duke and Duchess of Manchester; businessmen such as Herman A. Flurscheim, who was the wealthy owner of a dry goods store on Fifth Avenue in New York, and Jules Desurmont, who started a textile mill in Woonsocket, Rhode Island; Mexican diplomat Sebastian Bernardo de Mier; and at least one British Member of Parliament, Rowland Barran.
