PHOTOGRAPHS
Blackmarr, Frank H.
1912-04-15
overall: 7 13/16 x 10 7/8 in.

Page from the album of Dr. Blackmarr, a passenger on the CARPATHIA who assisted in the rescue of TITANIC passengers and documented the events. The photograph, taken from the deck of CARPATHIA, shows an iceberg on the horizon. On the album page above it is written "Ice Berg from which painting was made -- water color has been handled so much that the line of demarcation between the berg & continuous mass of ice is erased." On the right is written "Published Photo." Presumably the painting he is referring to is Colln Campbell Cooper's watercolor which was part of Dr. Blackmarr's album, 2020.39.7385. Dr. Blackmarr's photograph is not very clear and has suffered some damage, but the iceberg is visible.
