Encased 3/8 scale model of 40’ yawl ALIBI and dinghy made by donor’s father, Thomas V. Sawtell. Model completed and decorated with various ephemera on the deck such as mop and bucket; painted blue (upper half) and teal (lower half). Vessel number written on either side of the bow “MS 7226 C”. Interior plaque reads: “YAWL “ALIBI” / SCALE 3/8 1967”; exterior plaque reads: “Constructed and Donated to Mystic Seaport by / Thomas V. Sawtell and Family - Guilford, CT / from Plans by Winthrop Warner. Ships plans for the Yawl ALIBI originally designed by Winthrop Warner in 1947. Model in overall good condition; surface is dusty and needs cleaning, dinghy in corner visibly dusty; rigging intact. Overall: 25 1/4 x 22 3/4 x 8 1/2 in.
