Black and white photograph 2 3/4in x 2 3/4in. Reverse inscription: “729”; “Pitcairn I.”; “Sunday School in court house. Court house is built of hand sawn + planed wood. The jail has long since rotted down. Over head is pictures of king + queen of England.”; “R A Dillon” (stamp; blue ink). A group of women, children, and infants sit on wooden benches as an older woman seemingly leads a demonstration or lecture. The photographs mentioned in the inscription are likely depictions of English Queen Elizabeth I and King Albert Frederick Arthur George, yet a positive identification is difficult. Pitcairn Island, January/February, 1940.
