Empire Brand Playing Cards. Relatively worn thin cardboard tuck box with flap closure, white with blue graphic design. Standard playing deck inside, slightly yellowed. The majority of cards are stuck together. On the front of the flap: "DOUGHERTY / TRADE MARK / REG.U.S.PAT.OFF." On the front of the package: "EMPIRE / PLAYING CARDS / NO 97 / LINOID FINISH / W.H. DOUGHERTY'S PATENT FEB.9, 1909" On the left side: "A. DOUGHERTY NEW YORK." On the bottom: "No EMPIRE 97" On the right side: MADE IN U.S.A." On the inside of the flap, written in pencil, is a mathematical equation: "130 / 115 / | / 245" Overall: 3 5/8 x 2 5/8 x 5/8 in.
