Black-and-white photograph of scientist Gloria Hollister Anable inside the BATHYSPHERE, built and designed by Otis Barton and William Beebe; likely taken in 1934 off the coast of Bermuda. Photograph shows Hollister inside the BATHYSPHERE reaching out to her terrier, Trumps, from the entrance to the submersible; Trumps is standing on his hind legs, head pointed towards Hollister. Side of the bathysphere inscribed 'NEW YORK / ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY / BATHYSPHERE / NATIONAL / GEOGRAPHIC / SOCIETY'; vessel angled such that the open entrance hatch is facing the camera and the left portion of these words is visible. The bathysphere is resting on the deck of a ship, likely the READY.
